Library, Carnegie Center of Columbia Tusculum plan family-friendly ceremony to celebrate launch of services in East End The Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County and the Carnegie Center of Columbia Tusculum are working together to bring laptops and a deposit collection of print material to the Columbia Tusculum, Linwood and East End Neighborhoods. A laptop kiosk is now installed at the Carnegie Center of Columbia Tusculum at 3738 Eastern Ave. A family-friendly ribbon cutting and event will mark the opening of this new service on Sunday, April 22 at noon.

Celebrate Children’s Book Week with author Gene Luen Yang at Main Library In celebration of Children’s Book Week the Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County is hosting author-illustrator Gene Luen Yang. A recipient of what's popularly known as the MacArthur “Genius Grant,” Yang also was the 2016-2017 National Ambassador for Young People's Literature where he called upon people to “Read Without Walls” and explore diversity through books.

Taft Museum program gives art students a chance to shine in Main Library exhibit

Taft Museum program gives art students a chance to shine in Main Library exhibit Taft Museum of Art’s Artists Reaching Classrooms (ARC) program immerses high school art students in Cincinnati’s visual arts community and exposes them to careers in the arts. Professional artists visit classrooms to talk with the students about both the creative and practical aspects of a career in art. The students also visit an artist’s studio and the Taft Museum of Art. Students are asked to make artwork in response to the experience and write artists’ statements demonstrating what they have learned. The program culminates in a professionally organized exhibition of selected students’ artwork.

Library panel to discuss how city plans to end youth homelessness by 2020 The public is invited to a panel discussion and Q&A session on the issue of youth homelessness in Greater Cincinnati. The discussion will focus on why homelessness happens, how youth, specifically 18-to-24 year olds, are impacted and how the community can help. The panel will also cover a unique HUD project happening in Cincinnati—just one of 10 communities in the country—aimed to end youth homeless by 2020.
