Main Library’s train display, literary tree just the ticket for holiday family fun

The Cincinnati Northern Model Railroad Club Holiday Model Train Display will be on display in the Main Library’s atrium Friday, Dec. 1, through Sunday, Dec. 3. The Children’s Learning Center will host train-related stories, crafts and activities for children 2–3 p.m. Saturday, Dec 2, in the atrium. No registration is required for either event.

Library celebrates local radio, television history in new exhibit

Cincinnati has a rich radio and television broadcasting history. The Library is partnering with Media Heritage on a new exhibit celebrating this history. The exhibit, Living on Air, features objects, photos and memorabilia from some of the region’s most famous shows, stations and personalities and will be on display Nov. 15, 2017 - Jan. 31, 2018 at the Main Library.

At the Nov. 1 Hamilton County Commissioner’s meeting, the Commissioners appointed Karen Clemons to the Board of Trustees for The Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County for a seven year term.

Public Library jumps three spots to become second busiest in U.S.

Hamilton County is now home to the second busiest public library in the United States. The 2017 Public Library Data Service (PLDS) statistical report shows cardholders of the Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County checked out more than 21.2 million items in 2016, making the Library the second busiest system in the United States, second only to the New York Public Library.

Two Library buildings officially recognized for outstanding energy efficiency

Two branches of the Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County were officially awarded LEED silver-certification today. Library officials, Board member Elizabeth H. LaMacchia, and staff of the Reading and St. Bernard branch libraries were on hand for the ceremony, which celebrates the creation of two efficient and modern spaces that will serve the community and save money for years to come.
